Those buying a new car this winter could benefit from the enhanced safety equipment present in the latest versions of the Volkswagen (VW) Caravelle and California.
Set to arrive in UK showrooms after Christmas, the seven-seater people carrier and campervan have also been given various technical upgrades, such as a gear change indicator, DAB digital radio, improved alloy wheels.
But in terms of safety equipment, buyers will find airbag deactivation switches for passengers, seatbelt reminders, a daylight running function for the headlights and a cornering function fitted to the front fog lights.
Optional gadgets purchasers can choose from include a lane-change assist gizmo and an indicator that lets the driver know if a tyre loses pressure.
Consumers can expect to shell out from £39,950 for the new California SE and £31,300 for the Caravelle SE. An Executive version of the latter will be priced from £34,100.
Meanwhile, the VW Transporter range is now available to order, the manufacturer confirmed last week.
It will be available for delivery from January 2010.
