Motorists on roads in Greater Manchester are getting stuck in ten minutes’ worth of traffic jams each day, according to new research.
An online survey conducted by onepoll.com has found that such congestion on the road is suffered by seven out of ten drivers at least once per day.
Car insurance customers could find that they risk being involved in an accident if they are continually stopping and starting behind the wheel.
Lord Peter Smith, Wigan council leader and Association of Greater Manchester Authorities chairman, remarked that the issue is of concern.
"Businesses can only benefit if all the people who are arriving late for work each week as a result of congestion get there on time," said the official.
The news comes as research conducted by uSwitch.com shows that drivers in the UK are paying out £75 billion to drive due to the credit crunch.
